If I were to open my purse right now and explain the contents it would take a while. As a busy, working mom and staunch saver of things, my bag’s interior looks like a rummage sale and CVS got married. Aside from the obligatory wallet and keys, things like Band-Aids, Starburst wrappers, an expired gift card, a bag of Pirate’s Booty and a small notepad peep out from the inside. I’ve tried many times to pare this down to the essentials, but honestly at various moments throughout the day, every one of the aforementioned items (except maybe the wrappers) seems essential. “Mom, I’m starving!” No problem, this Pirate’s Booty is probably still good. “Mom, I stubbed my toe and desperately need to feel like I’m ok.” I got you with this random Band-Aid! You get the picture. It all comes in handy at some point.

For women in a similar life stage or those who just like to put everything in one place, you’re in luck because oversized totes and hobo bags are buzzing on the style blogs. Thus, there are plenty of super chic styles to choose from. Maybe one day I’ll downsize and uncover what the mysterious key inside my bag actually opens, but for now I’ll let it swim in the deep end of my giant carry-all.
